Nishat is managing British Council’s education work in Pakistan and her association with the British council spans over one and half decades.

Nishat has played a pivotal role in forging strong institutional partnerships between the UK and Pakistan spreading into areas of schools, skills higher education, scholarships, ranging from traditional educational models to innovative programmes.

Nishat is the founding member and the first employee of Karakorum International University, the first university in Gilgit Baltistan province of Pakistan. She has a list of few more firsts to her credit. Nishat is the recipient of the President of Pakistan Award of Excellence for best academic performance. She is the first female engineer from Gilgit Baltistan to inspire the other females to pursue their aims.

Nishat was declared the Premier Chevening Scholar from Pakistan in 2003. Nishat was awarded the honorary title of Most Excellent Order of the Member of British Empire by Her Majesty, Queen Elizbeth II in 2017. Her talks, academic writings and think pieces are available on the internet including TEDx.
