Member of ARC8 Expert Group on Equitable Access and Success in Higher Education 

Dr Graeme Atherton founded and leads the National Education Opportunities Network (NEON) in the UK. NEON is the national professional organisation for social mobility through widening access to higher education in the UK with over 100 universities as members.

He holds Visiting Professorships at London Metropolitan University, Amity Business School and Sunway University, Kuala Lumpur.

Through NEON he also leads the World Access to Higher Education Day (WAHED) which began in 2018. The last WAHED in November 2020 involved over 100 countries across the world.

He has produced over 150 publications and conference papers on equitable access to higher education. His recent publications include ‘Room at the top: Access and success at leading universities around the world’ and ‘University Access, Student Success and COVID-19 in a Global Context’ released in November 2020 and Access to Higher Education for Marginalised Communities: A global reader to be published in early 2021.
