Dr Alexandra Ioannidou is in charge of the Internationalisation Unit at the DIE – Leibniz Centre for Lifelong Learning in Bonn, Germany. She is the Secretary and Board Member of the European Society for Research on the Educations of Adults (ESREA) and member of the ASEM LLL Hub Advisory Group.
Her research interests are international comparative adult education research, educational governance and international policy analysis in lifelong learning, adult basic education, and vocational education and training.
She studied Philosophy, Psychology and Educational Studies as well as Adult Education and Intercultural Education. She holds a PhD (Dr. rer. soc.) from the University of Tuebingen. She worked as a lecturer and research associate at the University of Tuebingen and at the Open University of Cyprus.
She was an Advisor to the Greek Minister of Education (2009-2012), a member of the Cedefop Governing Board, and a member of the Advisory Group on the European Qualifications Framework of the European Commission.
