Dr Miki SUGIMURA is a professor of Comparative and International Education, and Vice President for Global Academic Affairs at Sophia University. She holds a Master’s degree of Education and a PhD from the University of Tokyo. She is the President of Japan Comparative Education Society, a member of Japanese National Committee for UNESCO, a member of the grant committee of Japan Foundation for United Nations University, and a member of the advisory council of Japan Student Service Organization. Dr SUGIMURA’s research is focused on regionalism and regionalization through transnational higher education, and multicultural education in the era of migration. Her publications include Equity in Excellence (2019, co-author), The Role of UNESCO in Cross-border Higher Education for International Student Mobility (2018), Cross-border Migration and the Nation-State (2017, editor), Human Security and Peace Building (2017, co-author) and Education for Sustainable Development and Citizenship Education in the Multi-cultural Societies (2014, co-editor).
