Professor David FITZPATRICK

Professor David FITZPATRICK received his Engineering Bachelor’s degree from Trinity College Dublin in 1985 and his D.Phil degree from the University of Oxford in 1990. Working in University College Dublin from 1998 to 2018, he was directly involved in the delivery and development of the mechanical engineering design and bioengineering curricula at undergraduate and post-graduate levels. Promoted to Full Professor in 2012, Professor FITZPATRICK has been Head of the School of Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering from 2005 to 2011, Vice-Principal (Internationalisation & Development) in the College of Engineering & Architecture from 2011 to 2012 and was appointed Provost (Chief Academic Officer) of Beijing-Dublin International College in 2012 and Dean of Engineering & Principal, UCD College of Engineering & Architecture in 2014. In 2019, he was appointed as the inaugural President for the newly established Technological University Dublin.
