Ambassador Professor Adam W. JELONEK PhD, MBA is the Chair of the Asian Studies at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland. His rich academic experience includes associate professorship at the Institute of Political Studies at the Polish Academy of Sciences and Institute od Sociology of the University of Warsaw. He became the Head of the Institute of Middle and Far East in 2007, and under his leadership, the Department became an Institute. Professor Jelonek acted as the director of this Institute till 2010 and once again since 2016. In 2010 he became Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland to Malaysia, Brunei and the Philippines. He held this position until 2014. Later he has served as the senior advisor to the Minister of Defence and member of the advisory board of the Minister of Foreign Affairs. His academic interests focus on social development, the theory of democracy and political anthropology of East and South-East Asia. His the author of dozens of scientific articles. In ARC7, Ambassador Professor Jelonek is a speaker in the Working Group Session Part 2 “Taking Action at International level: SDGs as a Catalyst to Reorient Internationalisation”.
